Have you heard of the Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension exam?
It is as it sounds: it objectively judges the participant's every day used vocabulary, enabling a more heightened awareness of their use of words and expression.
Its three sections - newspaper terminology, reading comprehension and dictionary terminology - enable an accurate measurement of the participant's language abilities. Six levels are available, meaning that elementary school children, university students and beyond are able to take the test appropriate to them. Level two is university level and level intermediate one tests vocabulary needed to get by in society. For the purposes of practice, it might be useful to start at level two, though if you feel more confident, there would be no problem with testing yourself with level one.
